BEST Tips to Stay Healthy ALL Season!

Strengthen the Immune System – Bottom Line! We’re all exposed all
the time to pathogens (microorganisms) from food, air, public places, petting
our pets, walking barefoot, airplane air, etc. So, we aren’t going to live in a
bubble, instead we are going to raise the strength (or vibration, frequency)
of the Immune System to not become ill.
*** Try using Chaga and/or Reishi Mushroom extract daily as a major boost
to your immune system! BEst way to avoid getting the flu or colds!
*** LOTS of fresh, clean, filtered water to hydrate and support cellular
communication, improve delivery of nutritions and release of toxins. Also
improves circulation, helping hands and feet stay warm!
*** Lots of minerals to “turn the lights on” so to speak. We ARE
electromagnetic beings! Water and minerals (and plenty of both) make us
electromagnetic beings! They feed the entire body and definitely bring cell
communication where it should be. Did you read lately where in Europe
they have cars running solely on salt water???? Water and minerals power
cars – so powerful!
*** Alkalize and oxygenate up the body. Disease CANNOT live in a good
alkaline pH and a well oxygenated body! So, eat more foods and liquids
that are alkaline (GREENS) and deeply breathe for 5-10 minutes each day or
exercise daily to oxygenate the body. Get outside each day for O2 and
inspiration. Keep bedroom window open a crack for more O2 in room all
night. Book suggestion: Alkalize or Die, by Dr. Baroody has all foods and
their ph values as a guide for shopping and eating.
*** Adequate good sleep. Sleep restores the body including the immune
system (on the 24 hour clock the immune restores between 10pm and
2am), hence be in bed by 9ish so you are sleeping during these hours.
*** Stretch out the body through your own stretching regime or yoga
(Hatha is gentle for stretching out the body and opening the body). The
twists are important also. I like the 5 Tibetan Rites (attached again here)
as anti-aging for sure!!!!! Testimonials for these are many.
*** Sunshine to stimulate Vitamin D. Even being near a sunny window
works. Supplement with D-3 in ample doses. See if you can get away this
winter where there is lots of sunshine! Releases endorphines for happiness
and pain relief. Watched recently a Youtube on sun gazing which many
have done over the past during safe hours. Very interesting! (mushrooms
provide Vit. D3!)
*** Grounding mats or bare feet on bare Earth. Lots of study on this. We
must connect literally our skin to Earth for grounding ourselves. Reduces
inflammation, calms us down, stimulates healing anywhere. If you live
where you cannot go outside with bare feet all the time, purchase a
grounding mat ($59 on line, Dr. Sinatra) and place your feet daily on it or
sleep on it naked. As I write, my feet are on this mat.
*** Good old Vitamin C for sure! Through food is best, yet supplementing
is fine. I especially like powdered, buffered vitamin C in water, or drink
Hibiscus or Rose Hip Tea for a powerful Vit. C punch!
*** Clean mouth through brushing teeth at least twice daily. Our teeth and
gums host microorganisms that find their way into the rest of the body. So,
use a flouride-free toothpaste that has all organic ingredients. Lots of data
on disease and mouth health connection.
*** Quiet time each day. Even 5 minutes of silence. Sitting in a
comfortable chair with eyes closed and deeply breathing for 5 deep breaths
and then normal breathing. This calms the mind, brings perspective,
grounding, love, inspiration. Every day! Not a luxury.
*** Foods to avoid: Sugar, dairy (unless raw and organic occasionally),
any GMO and processed foods and wheat products, alcohol (dries us out,
makes acid ph, and challenges liver, and is a depressant). There are others,
but these are the biggies!
*** Release endorphines daily by: laughing, dancing, all exercise, great
sex, spicy foods, dark chocolate, music you love, sunlight, massage and
meditation. We cannot be too serious all the time! For fun, how many
endorphin releasing activities can you do in a day?
*** Garlic is great for immune system, so is seaweed in soups and sushi (I
don’t eat the raw fish sushi anymore because of microorganisms inherent in
raw fish), choosing the non- raw-fish selections.
*** Also, silver kills bad bacteria and viruses. Tons of documentation on
this. I have Ionic Silver (ionic denotes the size of the mineral, smaller is
better assimilated) in my practice, and it should be in everyone’s home for
sure. Silver is nature’s natural anti-biotic. Also good for most viruses
including ebola, mono, hep, etc. Combined with vitamin C and turmeric this
is a winner. (or tumeric powder mixed with honey!)
*** Raw, organic Apple Cider Vinegar and water daily kills pathogens too!
Alkalizes us also!
*** Reach out to others when you feel stress is getting the better of
you. Connecting with Community is important key!
*** Lots of probiotics! Choose one with many different strains, the more
variety the better. You will eliminate better and keep the unfriendly critters
in check. Also, we are in Large Intestine and Lung season according to
Chinese Medicine which means when one organ is “off” so too will the
other… so a healthy large intestine helps the lungs. Try eating 1-2 TBS. of
sauerkraut or pickled beets daily – equivalent to a whole jar of probiotic

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the variation in the time interval between heart beats. Someone with less variation between one heart beat to the next has low heart rate variability and indicates decreased autonomic nervous system regulation.

The importance of Heart Rate Variability is that it is controlled by the autonomic nervous system and therefore is a window into its function. The autonomic nervous system automatically influences the visceral organs, smooth muscle such as the blood vessels and glands, and obviously a big influence on the heart.

There are 2 branches to the autonomic nervous system, the Sympathetic nervous system and the Parasympathetic nervous system. The Sympathetic nervous system deals with stress situations and is sometimes referred to as the fight or flight system and is triggered by any stress such as conscious or unconscious psycho-emotional stress, toxins and electromagnetic influences. The opposite is the Parasympathetic nervous system and is coined the ‘rest and digest’ system, which should be dominant. Many of us are in an adaption stage to chronic stress, which lowers many healthy, normal functions.

The second component of Heart Rate Variability is the spectral analysis. The ECG is broken down into very specific frequency band widths that correspond to specific functions. Low frequency, for example, has to do with the Sympathetic nervous system and high frequency has to do with Parasympathetic nervous system function.

Light Therapy Provide Benefits to People Dealing with Mental Disorders

Many in the Western world believe that hospitals and expensive pharmaceutical drugs are the only way to treat the most complex disorders facing us. However, light therapy and other alternative forms of healing are showing tremendous applications in the fight against many ailments of the body and mind.


Recent and current studies are hoping to find evidence that light therapy can provide benefits to patients dealing with mental disorders, including seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and bipolar disorder. Controlled exposure to artificial light can create a measured response from many hormone glands affecting brain activity. The medical publication Reuters Health even reported that light therapy seems to interact with the brain in a similar way to antidepressants and can affect serotonin and other chemicals thought to be tied to human emotions.

Pittsburgh’s Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic has conducted many recent studies on the issue. Their research, largely led by Dr. Dorothy Sit, seeks alternatives to drug therapies for bipolar disorder and other mental disabilities. In 2013, the institute will examine the effect of light therapy on up to 60 adults with symptoms of bipolar disorder. “We want to confirm the studies, the [light] dose, the optimum timing of the therapy during the course of a day, and the overall efficacy,” Dr. Sit was quoted as saying in this article published by PsychCentral.


There is no rock solid proof that light therapy can reduce the occurrence of symptoms associated with bipolar disorder. However, the Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic believes that there is enough evidence to engage in further studies, and their surveys have grown each year since 2007. Studies like this will go a long way in helping others to understand the real applications of light therapy in their own lives.


The work that we do is quite different than the mainstream market, but the LED light system we use is more effective than the simple light box with fluorescent lighting for SAD. The use of LED light pads over the eyes has many health benefits, and using blue LED’s is proven to be far more effective for SAD. Light Therapy and Depression

While life, with its constant ebb and flow, is a beautiful thing, some of us are weighed down by the world and struggle with sadness, depression and loneliness. Many of us retreat into the literal and metaphorical dark, with not a single light to guide us out.

As long as there is a little bit of light still left in this world, we will be ok. We just have to utilize it. Light is a very effective antidepressant. It inspired Alex Carlson.


A couple of years ago, one of his friends bought a Light Therapy device to help him deal with his Seasonal Affective Disorder. You see, the friend had some difficulty dealing with Portland winters. what is beauty?What is beauty? Such a question has been the foundation of art and philosophy for thousands of years, but we have not come any closer to absolutely defining it. The dictionary defines it as, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” Seems simple enough, right? Many are left in the dark in terms of self-beauty. Either he or she feel their outwardly appearance leaves much to be desired or their insides are grossly twisted by negativity and self-doubt. Light Therapy: Rage, Rage Against the Dying of the Light

Nowadays, the world seems darker than ever. We wander confused and lost. Many believe that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. We lack energy and vitality. As a result, we suffer from poor circulation, stress and pain. Immune systems, emotions and cities are crumbling into dust. We must do something. Are you content with just wallowing? The very air seems to strangle us. The answer, my friends, is in the light.


In the classic poem, “Do not go gentle into that good night,” Dylan Thomas writes, “Do not go gentle into that good night, / Old age should burn and rave at close of day; / Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Is that not inspiring? No matter how much darkness creeps in around us, we must not give in. We must rage, and embrace whatever light we can get our hands on. First, we must inquire into the nature of light and therapy.

The dictionary defines light as “something that makes things visible or affords illumination.” While simple, the definition does highlight one of light’s most important qualities: it illuminates. Light therapy, by extension, illuminates our bodies, lighting up the path to increased energy and a better life by re-establishing our relationship with the earth. It is a rejuvenating process, and I am happy to be a part of it! Over the past 20 years, light therapy has become more abundant in the medical field and will only continue to grow in relevance.
